At the start of the pandemic, many of us took the extra time to purge our homes. Donation bins across the country were overflowing with items! Now, a year later, it's a great time to freshen up our homes once again, as we step into this season of renewal. Here are a few simple tips to brighten your home as you prepare for spring.

Naturally add a touch of color and cleansing power

Adding citrus – think lemons, limes or grapefruit – to a bowl in your kitchen or dining area provides a pop of natural color, and leaves a delicious scent in the air. Alex Papachristidis of Everyday Elegance also notes that, according to the feng shui practice, placing nine lemons in a bowl cleanses the home of any residual, negative energy.

Update your work from home space

Many of us were thrown into a work from home situation with little time to prepare a proper space, much less a space we love. As we continue to work from home, and will likely maintain the more flexible schedule longterm, make the effort to declutter and refresh your at-home office. Invest in a pretty desk and ergonomic chair, conceal paperwork with decorative boxes, and add attractive accessories to give the space more personality.

A simple swap of old towels and bathmats can really freshen up your bathroom. Try a pretty, patterned rug instead of a traditional mat for an unexpected touch that takes your bathroom to the next level. Add a plant that thrives in a humid environment to ramp up the natural beauty in your space.

Give your windows a deep clean
